The two days proposal writing workshop was conducted on 24th and 25th July 2019 in Kathmandu University, School of Education located in Hattiban, lalitpur. All together 12 participants were present for the program which includes six masters and M.phil students of University while remaining were the phd scholars, professors and other academicians of the University. The goal of the workshop was to enhance the academic thesis writing skills of the students who have planned to conduct participatory action research thesis. The students learn to write different sections of thesis proposal including introduction part, literature part and methodology part. Also, they gain ideas on field engagement and how to build bonding within the local community members while conducting the intervention program.
Participatory Action Research has been newer methodology with the vision of societal change it brings through intervention programs. It has been challenging for both the professors and students to adopt and find different position of it in academic world. Student discussed about its uniqueness and dissimilarities from conventional methodologies. Also, professors trained students on searching appropriate articles and paper to write the research proposal with the use of proper citation and reference. Students gained in depth knowledge on the use of Participatory Action Research tool for their research proposal. They also learned and became aware about the field visit. The experience professors in similar field also shared their field visit experiences during the workshop. The workshop has given academic proposal writing skills to the students before beginning their thesis journey.
