KU alumnus pens debut novel

Mahendra P. Joshi’s —an alumnus of Kathmandu University — novel Rockin’ Rollin’  Rolpa: Know America, Explore Nepal compares and contrasts socio-economic and cultural lifestyles of America with Nepal. Published by Partridge India (a Penguin company) in October 2018, the novel narrates the experience of an American youth called Joshua Alberto Hamilton, who  unintentionally lands in the Himalayan country to spend three months without any preparation, knowledge and excitement.

The novel is the outcome of Joshi’s experience in America, where he studied liberal arts and cinematic arts after completing undergraduate in English literature in Nepal.  The novel has been creating a positive vibe since its publication. Dr. S. Gautam of Kathmandu University remarked, “Comparing America and Nepal in terms of physical infrastructural development could be faulty, however, there are so many aspects that the Himalayan country can exceed to one of the most powerful countries in the world. This is where the author has proved himself to tickle the psychological and spiritual minds of the readers”.
