Workshop to share on experiential learnings

15 June 2019 Department of Educational Leadership organized a day’s workshop to share on experiential learnings of MPhil 1st semester students on a course organizational theory and behavior. Five groups of students presented their experiential learning reports. The program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Mahesh Nath Parajuli, Dean of the School of Education. Dr. Jiwak Raj Bajracharya and Dr. Bashu Prasad delivered their remarks focusing on the importance of experiential learning and application of theory into practice. Dr. Dhanapati Subedi, Head of the Department highlighted on roles of education and requester to all the participants to reach out the boundaries of classrooms and to accept communities as leaning laboratories in order to transform society through education.

June 11, 2019 The Department of Education Leadership Program of the School of Education, Kathmandu University organized a program to pitch innovative educational ideas from students of M Ed Leadership and Management. Altogether, 16 (Sixteen) innovative entrepreneurial ideas were pitched by the students and they were evaluated by a team (Dr. Basu Prasad Subedi, Mr. Krishana Poudel and Asst.Prof. Rupesh Krishana Shrestha) from the School of Education and the School of Management. Teachers’ Training Workshop Completed

A team of KUSOED, Dr. Laxman Gnawali, Dr. Dhanapati Subedi, Dr. Basu Prasad Subedi, Dr. Jiwak Raj Bajracharya and Mr. Parbat Dhungana facilitated a three-day training program to teachers of Trinity International College, Dillibazar Height, Kathmandu from 5th to 7th of June 2019. Altogether 90 teachers of Science and Management Streams participated in the program. Prof. Dr. Mahesh Nath Parajuli, Dean of the School of Education delivered a congratulatory remarks and distributed certificates of participation to all the participants on the final day.

Workshop on resource material preparation for mathematics teachers

Department of STEAM Education conducted a workshop on resource material preparation for mathematics teachers with a team of Teachers 2 Teachers (T2T) global USA on 2 June 2019. The workshop also explored the possibilities of future activities by collaborating with T2T global. It was agreed to develop a mutual proposal and explore some funding agencies for further collaborative tasks. The main purpose of the program was to support the head teachers of the community schools on instructional leadership. EduHK Delegation visits KUSOED

15 May, 2019 EduHK Delegation visits KUSOED A four-member delegation from The Education University of Hong Kong (EduHK) led by Professor Lo Sing Kai, the Dean of the Graduate School of EduHK visited KUSOED today. The delegate met with the Dean and Associate Dean and other faculties and shared how the higher education scenario of Hong Kong is changing with Universities working hard to increase their world and regional rankings.  During the meeting, potential areas for collaborative partnership between the two institutions were also discussed. Prof. Lo also delivered a presentation on higher education opportunities in Hong Kong Universities. The session was attended by faculties as well as graduate scholars. The delegation returned home after completing the four day visit to Nepal.

KU alumnus pens debut novel

Mahendra P. Joshi’s —an alumnus of Kathmandu University — novel Rockin’ Rollin’  Rolpa: Know America, Explore Nepal compares and contrasts socio-economic and cultural lifestyles of America with Nepal. Published by Partridge India (a Penguin company) in October 2018, the novel narrates the experience of an American youth called Joshua Alberto Hamilton, who  unintentionally lands in the Himalayan country to spend three months without any preparation, knowledge and excitement. The novel is the outcome of Joshi’s experience in America, where he studied liberal arts and cinematic arts after completing undergraduate in English literature…
