M Phil in Development Studies

Key Features of the Program:

MPhil in Development Studies is a multidisciplinary program that focuses on preparing students capable to engage critically on development issues and its inter-linkage with other social processes, particularly the education, and contribute to build knowledge as well as in policy and practice of development at the local, national and global level.  Precisely, the program aims that the students are:

  • knowledgeable on recent trends and discourses on development and its dimensions at the national and international level
  • capable to contribute to knowledge building through academic and professional engagements
  • capable in planning, designing, and carrying out research with high academic standard
  • competent in leading and managing development programs and institutions
  • knowledgeable of development practices and their dimensions in Nepal and other parts of the world with a comparative perspective
  • are able to assess the challenges and opportunities in the field of development and education and develop modalities to address those challenges
  • are competent in teaching and training

  • EDUC 621 Advanced Qualitative Research Methods (3)*
  • EDUC 622 Advanced Quantitative Research Methods (3)*
  • EDUC 514 Writing for Professionals (1)
  • EDUC 513 Seminar: Issues in Education (1+1)

* Students have to select any one of the two courses either EDUC 621 or EDUC 622

Forms Distribution: (December/January of each year) Entry Qualification: Masters Degree in any discipline with CGPA 3.0 (out of 4) or 50% aggregate score
